Jennifer Pitchers
Engaging with resistance, paradox and fantasy, painter Jennifer Pitchers investigates the interaction of the conscious and unconscious. Negotiating these internal conflicts through dream interpretation, free association, and automatic drawing, she extracts meaning from colour and shape, using illustrative line work to clarify what she sees. Working in this way she is brought to the truth of her own lived experience and the transient complexity of the self. This acutely personal but expansive process drives and is present in all her work.
Jennifer graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2007 with a BA in Illustration. Following an extended hiatus to raise her young children, she has returned to her studio at Old Jet to dedicate her practice to her own work. She is currently on the TurpsBanana Correspondence Course.
